'Convict and Wenchs' Australia Day Run/Walk
Saturday 26th January 2013
  
The 26th January, is the day the 'First Fleet' arrived in Australia in 1788, and this is a public holiday, and in 2013, 'Australia Day' falls on a Saturday.

The Events and the Course:
We will be staging:
-42.195km Marathon: 5-00AM Start Time
-20 Miler(32.2km): 5-00AM Start Time
-21.1km Challenge: 6-00AM Start Time
-10km: 5-45AM Start Time
-5km: 7-00AM Start Time

Please note:
-Small field
-Hot and sticky weather(30+C and humidity above 80%)
-No 'race shirt'.
-No finishers medal.
-If you really want a 'Finishers Certificate', I might organise one for you.

Getting There:
If you are from outside Brisbane, the start/finish will be at Victoria Point, which is in 'south of the river', about 30km from Brisbane, on the coast, in the Redlands area.
From the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane or Mt Gravatt, follow the signs to either Victoria Point or Redland Bay(Route 21).
From the Gold Coast or Logan Motorway, take exit 30 on the Brisbane/Gold Coast Hwy, and then foll Route 47.(Both route 21 and 47 go past the Start/Finish.
The Start/Finish is with in the Queensland Scouts Eprapah Complex(UBD Map 226 D-3)
On the day, there is no general parking available with in the scouts complex, so please park in one of the adjoining 3 shopping centres, but be careful not to over crowd any one local area.

The Course:
-Flat multi-loop course(5km out/5km back, mostly on cycle tracks which vary from Bitumen to Concrete to Dirt)
-Hot and sticky weather(30+C and humidity above 80%.
-If you have access to the Garmin webpage, then please click here , for the 5km out section. This is the main out and back for the 10km, 21.1km, 20 miler and 42.195km Marathon, with the 21.1km, doing a 1.1km loop at the start, and the 20 Miler and 42.195km Marathon doing the 2.195km at the start.
The 5km goes out to the 2.5km, and turns to come back to the Start/Finish.
