Wagga Wagga Trail Marathon(16th August 2009)

Background of Race:

Following the success of the inaugural 2008 Wagga Wagga Trail Marathon the marathon will be held August 16th 2009. The 2008 marathon proved to be both challenging and enjoyable so in 2009 the course will be unchanged. Along with the marathon, a Marathon Relay will be run, this Relay provides four persons a chance to complete 10-12 km stages along the marathon trail or two person to do a half marathon size run. There will also be a 10 km fun run and a 3 km run/walk conducted inconjunction with the marathon.

In 2008, the Marathon had 56 finishers, plus 28 teams.

How to get there?

Wagga Wagga, is about half-way between Melbourne and Sydney, on the "inland" route.

It is about 470km(290 miles), south west of Sydney, which is about a 5 to 5.5 hours drive. It is about 435km(270miles) north west of Melbourne, which is about a 4.5 to 5 hour drive.

From Sydney, Wagga Wagga is also serve by Air by both REX and Qantas. From Melbourne, Wagga Wagga is only serviced by REX.

Wagga Wagga is also on the Melbourne to Sydney Rail line, and is service by two(2) trains per day. More details about trains can be found by clicking here.

Where to stay?

Wagga Wagga is a town of just over 60,000 people, and most Hotels/Motels are within 5 mins drive of the centre of town, and with the race being one loop and the Start and Finish being in the same spot, it doesn't really matter which one you chose, unless of course the entry form shows a "Sponsors Hotel/Motel", in which case you should stay there and support the business's who support the race.
